China's pesticide exports drop in first nine months
China exported 308,000 tonnes of pesticides in the first nine months of 2008, a decrease of 3.5% compared with last year, according to the China customs department’s chemical industry trade figures. The value of exported pesticides, at $800 million, fell 24.2% against last year. This is the first time that China has seen a drop in exports – in volume or value terms - since 1997. Import volumes, however, saw an increase of 13.3% to 31,000 tonnes.
