EFSA/JRC to co-operate on GMO data

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) are to co-operate on various aspects of food and feed safety, including genetically modified organisms. The agreement will aim to ensure that: additional robust data are provided for risk assessment; harmonised standards are applied to data generation; and analytical best practices are shared. The JRC already contributes to work on GM food and feed through its six Community Reference Laboratories, which help EU member states test food and feed for non-EU approved material.
