CHEESE imports into the Czech Republic are growing while domestic production is in decline, according to the country's agricultural ministry. In 2007, cheese imports rose 33%, accounting for almost 40% of domestic consumption, compared with 2003 when they covered 12.5% of the country's consumption. The biggest exporter to the Czech Republic is Germany, supplying mainly fresh and cottage cheese, followed by Poland, which ships mainly Edam and processed cheese.
