Investigation damages Brazil's image

Operation Weak Flesh, activated by the Federal Police in Brazil to investigate corruption in meat production health standards, has damaged Brazil's international image and may cost the market around 10% of its earnings, says Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Blairo Maggi. In a joint hearing of the committees on Agriculture and Economic Affairs, Maggi said the markets of most concern to the Brazilian government are China and Hong Kong, which are yet to take a clear position on embargoes. He said that other countries the Brazilian government has discussed the issue with, the restrictions should be limited to the 21 slaughterhouses being investigated.
