The School Nutrition Association appears to be reconsidering its recent parting of ways with Washington, D.C., lawyer Marshall Matz, a partner with Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Matz PC who worked with the school food lobby for more than three decades (See FCN July 12, 2013, page 14). In an Aug. 21 memo, incoming SNA President Leah Schmidt, defended the change of lobbyists -- SNA is now being represented by Craig Burkhardt and Richard Boykin of Barnes & Thornburg LLP -- but said the association had received a recommendation from its past presidents advisory board to consider re-hiring Matz as a consultant during the 2014 legislative session and the Child Nutrition Reauthorization process.
