The Regulatory Agenda, Fall 2013
The federal government, on Nov. 26, published its unified regulatory agenda on the website for the White House Office of Management and Budget ( www.reginfo.gov ). These agendas have yet to be published in the Federal Register, but our editors have culled through each department’s list and extracted the issues related to food regulation. As we noted previously, the federal government’s regulatory agenda is more of an aspiration than a promise and the agencies rarely meet the dates they predict for proposals or final rules. But the agendas still have value and give a sense of which tasks may get priority attention. Next week’s issue will include our breakdown of regulatory actions coming from the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and Agricultural Marketing Service.
