Codex creates new spice panel and approves additive, pesticide standards

Meeting early this month in Rome, the Codex Alimentarius Commission created a new Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH) and approved several hundred new provisions for food additives and maximum residue limits (MRLs) for pesticides, according to a meeting report ( released on Friday by US Delegate Mary Frances Lowe, who also serves as US Codex manager, reports Steve Clapp of Food Chemical News.
