Spice industry warns EPA of food safety problems without fumigants

The spice industry is warning the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that Propylene Oxide (PPO), which is up for reregistration, is one of the most important fumigants for eliminating plant pests and microbial contamination and that, without it, the industry is likely to see an uptick in pathogens in spice shipments.
