Budget Conferees Meet Today as CBO to Release Report on Options for Reducing Deficit
The 29 budget conferees meet today for the second time, and will likely at least review items in a coming Congressional Budget Office (CBO), “Options for Reducing the Deficit: 2014 to 2023,” a list of both spending cuts and revenue raisers that would help cut the deficit over the next 10 years. CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf will appear before the House-Senate conference committee as work continues on a Fiscal Year 2014 budget resolution (SConRes. 8). Conferees face an informal Dec. 13 deadline to complete its work, though the current government funding bill does not expire until Jan. 15, 2014.
