FDA bars BPA from infant formula packaging

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced last week (11 July) that it is shutting the door on the use of bisphenol A (BPA)-based epoxy resins as coatings in packaging for infant formula, agreeing with a 16 March 2012 petition filed by the then Representative Edward Markey (Democrat, Massachusetts) that all US formula makers have abandoned BPA in product packaging.
