Renewable Fuel Proponents Threaten EPA With Suit Over 2014 RFS Volume Requirements

Renewable fuel advocates disappointed with EPA's proposed reduction in renewable fuel standard (RFS) volume obligations said July 29 they are considering legal action if the agency does not raise the requirement when the 2014 proposal is finalized. “If they gut the program, thinking they are helping us, they are going to find themselves in court,” Bob Dinneen, president of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), said in an interview cited by Bloomberg BNA. “If they so screw this up that Exxon Mobil now gets to decide how much renewable fuel we are going use, then I'm going to defend the program.” In addition, the Biotechnology Industry Organization, has said they “expect” to sue the EPA if the agency finalizes renewable volume obligations in line with its 2014 proposal, BIO spokesman Paul Winters told Bloomberg BNA.
