FDA Rule List
Regarding the administration's revised nutrition facts panel labeling and serving size rules, the agenda does not list a final rule date, with FDA noting just that the comment period for the proposals will close June 2. The agenda notes a June release of final rules governing calorie counts on food sold in restaurants and in vending machines. Revised FSMA rules for foreign supplier verification and produce safety are set to be ready for public review in July. Meanwhile FDA plans to address "compliance for using a 'gluten-free' labeling claim for those foods for which there is no scientifically valid analytical method available that can reliably detect and accurately quantify the presence" of gluten. A proposed rule is expected in September.
