Several Energy Bills Up for House Floor Action

Rep. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) will push his natural gas exports bill (HR 6) to require a licensing decision by the Energy Department within 30 days following the completion of an environmental review for a proposed export terminal. Republican leaders have scheduled Gardner's bill for a House vote beginning today, along with a second bill (HR 3301) to accelerate permitting for international energy projects and a third (HR 4899) to expand offshore drilling and speed up permits to drill on federal lands. The three bills are expected to pass the House but not be taken up by the Democratic-controlled Senate, although there is growing support among Senate Democrats from energy-producing states for action on LNG exports.
