Senate Panel Could Markup Tax Extenders April 3
Senate Finance Committee Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) has not yet released details of his tax incentive extenders plan and Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), ranking member of the committee, said an April 3 markup is now likely. Senate rules dictate that the committee must wait at least 48 hours after a bill's release before holding a markup, suggesting legislation could be released today. One of the reasons for the apparent delay is obtaining cost and revenue estimates from the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation. Hatch said he and Wyden have agreed to have a separate vote on an amendment to the bill to repeal the medical device tax. Hatch also prefers reviewing the tax extenders provision-by-provision.
