Obama Admin. 'Strongly Opposes' Congressional Efforts to Curb Federal Workweek Rules for Truck Drivers

The Obama administration said it “strongly opposes” efforts in Congress to curb federal workweek rules for truck drivers, as the Senate prepares to take up a FY 2015 appropriations bill package (HR 4660 ) that would do just that. That statement of administration policy (SAP) issued Tuesday by the White House Office of Management and Budget (link) takes aim at an amendment offered in committee by Susan Collins (R-Maine), whose proposal cleared the panel in a 21-9 vote with broad bipartisan support, in a bill devoted to Department of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development programs (S 2438 ).
