GM labeling proposal snagged in Oregon, slow progress elsewhere

State lawmakers across the nation continue to show a keen interest in bills to require labeling of genetically modified foods and legislation remains in play in nearly 20 legislatures across the country. But progress towards approval of state labeling legislation is proving elusive. Introducing GM labeling bills is one thing -- getting them through committees and legislatures is far more difficult, in part due to lingering worries about industry lawsuits and the practicality of imposing state labeling regimes.
