Belgian MEP: we’ll be “pitbulls” on food waste
Belgian Green MEP Bart Staes has said MEPs keen for more to be done to tackle food waste will be “like pitbulls” in their pursuit of decisive action. Estimates vary, but globally between about one third and one half of food produced is not actually eaten. This food is, instead, wasted at all points along the supply chain, starting at the farm and ending at the household. However, the European Commission has frustrated campaigners for change by being slow and evasive on promoting solutions.
