Voluntary COOL bill, repeal amendment introduced in the Senate

Senators John Hoeven (Republican-North Dakota) and Debbie Stabenow (Democrat-Michigan) introduced proposed legislation on 23 July to repeal mandatory country of origin labelling (COOL), while Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kansas), chair of the US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, offered an amendment to the highway bill that would repeal mandatory COOL but would not replace it immediately with a voluntary programme.
