Junk food “should be taxed” in emerging economies to stem obesity

Emerging economies should follow Mexico’s lead and tax unhealthy food, a leading think tank has said in its latest report. The Overseas Development Institute (ODI) recommends taxation to reverse a  disturbing trend across the world where the price of fresh vegetables has been rising by up to 91% while the cost of some processed foods has been dropping by up to 20%, in turn driving the obesity epidemic.
