Produce, import programs may suffer if FDA doesn’t get FSMA funding hike, Taylor warns

PORTLAND, ORE.--FDA may have to delay implementing the produce safety and new import system under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) if Congress does not provide adequate funds in this budget year, FDA’s Mike Taylor, associate commissioner for foods and veterinary medicine, said Tuesday (July 28) at the International Association of Food Protection (IAFP) annual meeting.
