Correction:
In a July 16 article titled “Animal feed industry faces ‘crisis’ as FDA moves to increase oversight,” we incorrectly described a nuance of the GRAS process for feed additives in a comment attributed to Florida-based regulatory consultant George Burdock of Burdock Group Consultants. Here is the corrected version: “In order to prevent a manufacturer-initiated amendment to the CVM GRAS to permit additional uses, CVM could employ the equivalent of CFSAN's 21 CFR 182.l(b)(2), which prohibits any amendments by a GRAS determination and requires all amendments to CVM's GRAS be submitted as FAPs.”
