Funding for CFTC, Transportation Part of FY 2016 Budget Issues This Week in Congress

House Republican appropriators will likely push back against a proposed boost in spending for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) at an Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee hearing on Wednesday with commission Chairman Timothy Massad. The administration wants to give the CFTC $322 million in Fiscal 2016, up from the current $250 million. Republicans have sought to reduce funding for the agency as part of their broader opposition to increased financial oversight.
