UK supermarket chain takes initiative on food waste
UK supermarket chain Morrisons has announced that a pilot project, which saw unsold food given to local community organisations, will be extended to all its stores across the country. In France, legislation is being drafted to force larger supermarkets to reduce food waste. Poland, Romania and Italy are putting together similar laws. But pressure in the UK for legislative measures has been weak, though MPs have raised the matter, most recently in Scotland.
