Members of Congress urge FSIS to delay expanding hog HIMP nationwide

In a Jan. 19 letter to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack, 60 members of Congress led by Reps. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) and Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) urge USDA to delay publishing a proposed Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point-based Inspection Models Project’s (HIMP) hog inspection rule, which they claim would undermine food safety, worker safety and animal welfare.
