Massachusetts animal welfare vote could impact meat and poultry industry in all states

In a decision that could impact the meat and poultry industry in all states, Massachusetts voted to pass Question 3 on the ballot on Tuesday (Nov. 8), which mandates that calves raised for veal, breeding pigs and egg-laying hens have enough room to turn around and extend their limbs. It also requires that meat and eggs sold in the state come from animals that meet this welfare standard.
