More data needed on guar gum use for children, says EFSA

More data is needed on the potential health effects, particularly abdominal discomfort, of the additive guar gum (E 412) when used in foods intended for infants and young children, especially foods for special medical purposes (FSMP), according to the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA’s) Panel on Food Additives and Nutrient Sources added to Food (ANS).
