NAMI proposes food safety changes at NAFTA hearing

Recognizing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) could benefit from some improvements, the North American Meat Institute (NAMI) on Tuesday (June 27) suggested a list of possible changes to the Unites States trilateral agreement with Mexico and Canada, including the creation of a joint organization or program to “institutionalize” science-based food safety testing, surveillance, hazard identification and risk assessment for traded meat products.
