Retailers appeal Cook County soda tax

The Illinois Retail Merchants Association (IRMA) has not given up the fight against a new, penny-per-ounce soda tax, which goes in effect today (Aug. 2) in Cook County, Ill. The group has filed an appeal, contesting last week’s decision by Circuit Court Judge Daniel Kubasiak that dismissed a lawsuit claiming the soda tax is unconstitutional.
