Advocates urge Perdue not to increase poultry line speeds, citing health risks

This article is powered by Food Chemical News

Thirty-nine advocacy groups urged Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue Wednesday (Aug. 16) to oppose any increase in line speeds in poultry plants, arguing the current line speed already exposes the nation’s 250,000 poultry workers to serious risk of injury, and that a faster line speed would also increase food safety risks.
