Hepatitis E in food “an emerging issue”, UK report finds infected pork

Pork imported into the UK may have infected “thousands” of people with Hepatitis E (HEV), a study reported widely across UK media states. However, the report appears not to be revealing anything new to the food authorities or the meat industry which seems to be familiar with the problem of foodborne HEV for some time and deems its’ risk to be low.
