Haribo says ethical standards “non-negotiable” amid slavery allegations

German sweets company Haribo has said it is “shocked and appalled” by allegations that Brazilian plantation workers producing raw ingredients for their products were facing conditions “similar to slavery”. The company said social and ethical labour standards “are non-negotiable as far as our suppliers, preliminary suppliers and their farms are concerned”.
