WTO members urge restraint in US 'Section 232' steel import investigation

Multiple World Trade Organization (WTO) members urged the US to exercise restraint, as a January deadline for the conclusion of its "Section 232" investigation over steel imports approaches, during a November 10 meeting of the WTO Council for Trade in Goods, according to a Geneva trade official. The investigation, under a little used part of US trade law, is meant to determine whether such imports threaten US national security.
