At the end of 2017, the European Commission presented its proposals to reform the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for the post-2020 period, outlining its intention to simplify the policy’s implementation by provide greater subsidiarity to the member states. The plans also foresee a complete reshuffle of the CAP’s agro-environmental schemes by scrapping the EU-wide greening requirements, while the strategic document also reflects on possible ways to achieve a more equitable distribution of income support to farmers.
