California adds food packaging chemical vinylidene chloride to Prop 65 list

California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has added a chemical used to make certain plastics used in food packaging materials, such as flexible films like food wrap – vinylidene chloride (1,1-dichloroethylene) – to the list of chemicals known to the state to cause cancer under Proposition 65.
