R-CALF USA and its Ohio affiliate, Buckeye Quality Beef Association, are asking the Senate Judiciary Committee to investigate potential antitrust and anticompetitive conduct in the northeast region of the United States, accusing Cargill of monopolizing the market and driving down wholesale beef prices after a plant owned by its rival JBS in Souderton, Penn., shut down last fall.
