U.S., EU to mutually recognize shellfish programs, reopen trade

FDA and the European Commission (EC) are proposing to recognize each other’s food safety systems as equivalent for bivalve molluscan shellfish, including clams, mussels, oysters and scallops, reopening shellfish trade between the U.S. and EU for the first time in nearly eight years, FDA announced Thursday (March 8).
