New CDC data shows mixed results on reducing foodborne pathogens

A new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report finds the incidence of six foodborne pathogens increased significantly in 2017 compared to 2014-2016, but also shows a decline over the past decade in Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) 0157 infections and certain strains of Salmonella, which researchers say parallel decreased contamination in ground beef and poultry.
