FDA won't recall foods with PHOs already on shelves, Mayne says

FDA will not require recalls for products containing partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs) that were introduced into commerce ahead of the swiftly approaching June 18 compliance date to phase them out, and the agency plans to clarify this in writing soon, Susan Mayne, director of FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), said last week at the Food and Drug law Institute (FDLI) meeting.
