What threat does ‘lab-grown’ meat pose to the traditional livestock sector?

It is now five years since so-called ‘artificial meat’ was successfully grown in a Dutch laboratory at a cost in excess of $300,000 per lb. But cost of production of this proteinaceous substance, claimed to be an exact nutritional substitute for beef, pork or chicken meat produced on the farm, has now fallen dramatically.
