Hungary to slash VAT on milk, raise junk food tax

The Hungarian government plans to submit a tax package bill to the parliament next week which includes a number of tax cuts, including the reduction of the value-added tax (VAT) on UHT and ESL milk. The authorities are also planning, at a later date, to raise the rate of the country’s tax on junk food and unhealthy beverages, according to cabinet officials.
