USDA and FDA announced on Monday (Sept. 10) they will hold a joint meeting next month to discuss the future of lab-grown meats, possibly in response to a push from some meat producer trade groups who believe that USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), should at least be involved in regulating the emerging field of meat production.
