UK MPs call for ban on sub-standard agri-food imports after Brexit

EFRA Committee also wants more clarity from government on phase-out plan for direct payments to farmers

A key UK parliamentary committee has challenged the British government to “put its money where its mouth is” and include a ban on the import of any agri-food imports which do not meet UK standards on production, animal welfare or the environment into the new Agriculture Bill, which is currently passing through the UK Parliament.
