UK garlic importers must pay fine over false origin declaration

The case came about after a Sri Lankan exporter used false documents to avoid EU quotas for Chinese garlic, claiming the garlic was from India instead.

A UK tax tribunal has dismissed an appeal by British garlic importers Puregold Enterprises, Ciproveg Limited and S&S Fruit and Vegetables Limited against a fine imposed due to a falsely declared origin of Chinese imported garlic.
