Animal welfare group says chicken welfare “cannot be ignored”

The RSPCA welcomed a commitment from supermarket chain Waitrose this week to higher welfare standards. But the group says more companies need to come on board.

Animal welfare group, the RSPCA, said today that about one billion chickens in the UK live in “unacceptable conditions” and urged the country’s leading supermarkets to make greater efforts to raise standards.
