Commission publishes Delegated Act that will phase out palm oil as biofuel

The regulation was published in the EU’s Official Journal on May 21 and seeks to address indirect land use changes for crop growing that leads to deforestation.

A Delegated Act supplemental to the EU Renewables Energy Directive (RED II), which ranks palm oil as having a high indirect land use change (ILUC) and foresees the phase-out of the tropical oil as a biofuel, has been published in the EU’s Official Journal.
