Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross downplayed expectations for a potential meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at this month's Group of 20 (G20) summit. Meanwhile, the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) is gathering public input this week on plans to levy new tariffs on some $300 billion in Chinese goods, and the US asked a WTO dispute panel looking into Chinese intellectual properties to pause its work until the end of the year.
