Norway makes progress on salt reduction

The Norwegian Directorate of Health launched a salt action plan five years ago, which is now being assessed.

The Institute of Marine Research has released the results of its salt analysis in selected foods in Norway from 2014-2018. The results show that salt content is moving in the right direction for fresh bread and cereal, cold cuts, liver pate, cured ham and dairy during this period. However, the salt content of fish products is the same, and there is little change in ready meal salt content.
