Prevalence of overweight school children “rapidly increasing” across globe, says UN agency

In UNICEF’s latest report, called “State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2019”, the UN agency focuses in particular on the growing number of overweight children in all regions of the world and the measures to tackle the problem.

A UNICEF report published this week encourages policymakers to implement a number of measures, including taxes, to decrease the demand for foods high in fat, sugar and salt as the number of overweight children in the world increases.
