Spain passes regulation requiring financial contribution from industry to promote olive oil

The newly approved measure expires on September 30, 2024, with 80% of the fee going to promoting olive oil and its consumption and the rest going to fund research and development.

Spain’s ministry of agriculture, fisheries and food has approved ordinance APA/974/2019 introducing a compulsory financial contribution on the olive oil industry. The money will be used to carry out activities to promote olive oil, improve information on production and markets and carry out research, development, technological innovation and studies, among other goals.
