A hiatus in the functioning of the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Appellate Body – a cornerstone of its dispute settlement process – is inevitable, Ambassador David Walker of New Zealand told WTO’s General Council, and the US rejected his proposal aimed at addressing US concerns to break an impasse on the appointment of new judges to the body.
